Air to Cloth Ratio
Air to cloth ratio is also known as air to media and is essentially defined as the measurement of air passing through one square foot of filter media. To perform efficiently your dust collector must maintain a low air to cloth ratio. This is because the lower your measurement is, the more effective your system is at eradicating dust from your work environment. If you have an inadequate amount of filter media you will experience decrease in suction. This can lead to your air quality decreasing, your filters will clog quicker and you will be performing maintenance work more regularly.
The correct air to cloth ratio is so important for many reasons. Some of which include:
- Extension of filter life
- Meeting your air quality goals
- Minimalization of your operation costs
- Keeping your system at its ultimate efficiency
Without the right air to cloth ratio the following issues can occur:
- Damage to your equipment
- Compressed air over usage
- Air velocity impacts
- Drops of high pressure
