Fume Exhaust System

WDIS.WA were required to manufacture and install a fume exhaust system for a dairy factory. Stainless steel duct-work was installed to extract caustic fumes from their pasteurization room. It was fitted with stainless steel and aluminium cladding and lagging to insulate the duct-work from extreme temperatures. We carefully installed the duct-work around the already existing equipment and duct-work in the factory. Due to access restrictions we had to install solely with the use of platforms and extension ladders. We were a few different parts required for this job. As well as the duct-work we were required to manufacture a stack to expel the excess fumes, brackets to hold the duct-work in place and vents to suck in the fumes from the source.

Pizza Oven Ventilation System

A brand-new gas fired pizza oven was installed into an existing restaurant. They required us to come out to design and install a pizza oven ventilation system  to vent out the smoke and heat. Due to the heating element, it was essential to clad and insulate the duct work to prevent any damage from the heat travelling through the duct-work. We were able to manufacture and install a system that was in compliance with Australian Standards. It also had to be aesthetically pleasing due to its presence in the restaurant. Overall, we managed to create and install a very streamlined system which was cladded and lagged for heat protection. It protruded through the roof and was topped off with a Chinaman’s hat to prevent any contamination from the elements.

Emergency Call Out

An emergency call out was a necessity for this repair job. The factory unknowingly had their hopper fill up with product. Without urgent attention this led to the duct-work collapsing as it became the weakest point of the system. They had to shut down this particular part of their factory down until repairs could take place. This type of incident is what costs a business valuable production time. WDIS.WA went out and emptied the hopper. We then removed the old duct and replaced it with a new duct-work. This is a perfect example of why regular maintenance and servicing is recommended on all systems. Not only to keep them working well but to prevent major disasters like this from happening. If this had of been caught early, then no major repair work would have been required.

Dust Collector Modification

This was a job that required a modification to an existing dust collector. We were called out to a school that had an old dust collector that was having issues with bag changes. They were filling up the bags faster than they could change them. Firstly, because they were having a hard time changing them and secondly, because they didn’t know they were full. After discussing the problem, we decided that installing a door for access to the hopper would be the best way to go. We also installed a magnehelic gauge to make it easier in future for the client to tell when the bags require changing.

Bailing Equipment Modifications

A hay bailing factory called about an issue with their bailing equipment. The air was constantly full of product which is a major health and safety issue for employees. The reason the product line was open was because they needed easy access to the equipment if anything went wrong and for visibility of these issues. They required an extraction hood to mitigate the dust issue they were having when the machine was in use. We designed a stainless steel hood with a plastic cover to rectify the issue. Now they are able to see the product line and keep the dust contained at the same time. It also allows for easy access to the machinery.

Duct work Upgrades

This existing duct-work system required some upgrades and maintenance. The existing fan was fine but the duct-work was old, worn out and not working to its optimal capacity. We were able to measure up the old system and come up with a more efficient dust system for the factory. With the assistance of access equipment, cranes and transport we removed the old duct-work and installed the new duct-work system. There were numerous parts included in this system which included various pick up points, blast gates, bends and flanges. They were all manufactured and installed by WDIS.WA to the customers specific requirements.
